The GANT Archive Exhibition Lands in Paris, Curated by Manuel Schenck
After inaugurating its travelling archive exhibition in NYC, Gant has headed off to European capitals, this time landing in Paris. The American house has been crafting its history for over 70 years, navigating different eras and seamlessly pivoting from preppy culture to streetwear. Always chic yet casual, Gant presents this spring an exhibition of archive pieces that embody the unique essence of the brand, specially curated by Parisian local Manuel Schenck. A skateboarding icon, director and ambassador of Supreme, this versatile man has skilfully succeeded in blending his unmistakable personal style with that of Gant.
Tracing Gant’s history over several generations, the exhibition reveals iconic and colourful pieces that have kept their aesthetic intact. Reminiscent of Larry Clark’s Kids style, Schenck’s selection features timeless pieces that harmoniously blend the preppy style borrowed from the Yard bench in the early 50s with the effortless look borrowed from the New York skaters of the 90s. Oversized sweatshirts, windbreakers and carefully chosen Ivy uniforms offer a look back at American sportswear, pioneered by Gant over centuries. The launch evening was held last Wednesday at the Parisian showroom on Rue Charlot, an event that attracted personalities like Alice Pfeiffer, Thays Klapisch, Xiayan Guo, Karl Adam Christian, Yann et Yoann Silasi and Jérémy Kouyaté, among many others.
