The Fondation Carmignac Pays Tribute to Abstraction on The Island of Porquerolles
Nature in its wildest and most vertiginous state—here’s the spirit driving the collective exhibition currently running at the Villa Carmignac, on the island of Porquerolles. Curated by Matthieu Poirier, VERTIGO features some fifty Abstract works inspired by natural phenomena, dating from the mid-20th century to our current days. Having broken free from the constraints of figuration, the exhibited artists engage in a bright and colourful interplay of shades and lights. Disoriented by this masterfully conducted dive into abstraction, visitors are invited to explore an exalted homage to nature through six themes: water, cosmogony, air, infinity, land and abyss.
On April 25th, guests attending the exhibition opening enjoyed a privileged tour of the exhibition and gardens, followed by Edouard Carmignac, Charles Carmignac, and Matthieu Poirier’s speeches. Beneath the pine trees, visitors gathered around an exceptional dinner table, where they were treated to a whirling dervish performance, accompanied by a violinist, and followed by a live DJ set. We crossed paths with artists Fabienne Verdier, Pier Stockholm, Raphaël Hefti, Véronique Joumard, Hugo Schüwer Boss, Flora Moscovic, and many others.
