The First Edition of the Ceramic Art Fair at The Maison de l’Amérique Latine
A first-of-its-kind event in France, the Ceramic Art Fair favours a human-scale format while offering a carefully curated selection. Comprising curators, gallerists, journalists and architects, the committee is composed of experts and renowned figures from the art world who ensure a selection of exceptional quality. The participating galleries, renowned for the uniqueness of their choices and the accuracy of their vision, showcase their artists across the two floors of the Hôtel Amelot de Gournay and the 1,500 m² garden. For this first edition, architect Luis Laplace has created a bespoke table that pays tribute to the arts of fire and celebrates French craftsmanship.
The programme features a series of educational lectures on the arts of fire, with special guest speakers including Antoinette Faÿ-Hallé, honorary curator of heritage and former director of the National Ceramics Museum in Sèvres, as well as Catherine Trouvet, doctor of art history, member of the Ceramic Art Fair committee, vice-president of the French Society for the Study of Oriental Ceramics and administrator of the Friends of the National Ceramics Museum and Ceramophiles. Other contributors include Mael Bellec, chief curator in charge of Chinese and Korean collections at the Cernuschi Museum, and Lisa Hockemeyer, Doctor of Art and Design History.
Just like entering a collector’s home, guests could wander the magnificent venue, exploring a rich and eclectic range of works spanning different eras, from emerging artists to historical pieces.
At the opening, we met Elsa Foulon, Olivia Cognet, Jonathan Aussere, Mathilde Favier, Cristina Cordula, and Vincent Darré, among others
