The Exhibition “Tailoring School. A Journey Into Education” by Triennale Milano and Kiton, Lands in Paris
On Thursday evening, the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris hosted quite a distinguished gathering. The occasion? The second stop of the exhibition “Tailoring School. A Journey into Education”, running from January 22nd to 25th, and organized by Triennale Milano and Kiton. Curated by Luca Stoppini, scientific advisor for Triennale Milano’s fashion department, the exhibition on French soil was supported by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode in Paris.
At the event presenting the exhibition, which retraces twenty-five years of pure excellence from Kiton’s High Tailoring School in Arzano (Naples), we met notable guests including Pascal Morand, Emanuela D’Alessandro, Marco Sammicheli, Alessandro Calascibetta, Inga Griese, Angélique de Confevron, Antonio De Matteis, and Maria Giovanna Paone.
But what motivated Triennale and Kiton to embark on this ambitious project? Essentially, the desire to represent the themes of education and high craftsmanship as central elements in the Italian cultural system and beyond. The organizers transformed the school into an itinerant exhibition aimed at highlighting the figure of the tailor, now seen as a contemporary professional. The core of the project is the integration of education and high craftsmanship, starting with the experience of Kiton’s High Tailoring School, founded in 2000. The initiative has a dual purpose: to preserve artisanal traditions and to spread the art of tailoring worldwide. Before landing in France, Tailoring School. A Journey into Education was first presented at Triennale Milano during Milan Men’s Fashion Week.
