“Thé Dansant”: A Collection by Joana Vasconcelos for Bernardaud

Artcurial, Paris

To celebrate Paris Art Week, Bernardaud has collaborated with Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos on Thé Dansant, a unique collection that combines the porcelain manufacturer’s expertise with the artist’s baroque-pop aesthetic. At the heart of this flamboyant collection, unveiled at Artcurial, is a monumental extra-large teapot, 60 cm high with a capacity of 70 litres, which took six years to develop. Produced in a limited edition of seven unique pieces, each is covered in crochet lace in colours inspired by tea essences. This is complemented by another version, limited to 71 pieces, decorated with abstract motifs and the artist’s iconic red heart. Vasconcelos explains her fascination with the teapot as a symbolic object, linked to the history of tea and femininity. Through her work, she interrogates the roles traditionally assigned to women and challenges social norms.

At the official opening, we met Joana Vasconcelos, Michel Bernardaud, Thierry Dassault, Nicolas Orlowski, Frédéric Bernardaud and many others.
