The 5th Edition of the Lights on Women’s Worth Award by L’Oréal Paris
An official partner of the Cannes Film Festival for 28 years, L’Oréal Paris is committed to addressing the under-representation of women in the film industry. This active support came to fruition in 2021 with the creation of the Lights on Women’s Worth prize, which rewards promising female short film directors from the Cannes Film Festival’s official short film selection and the CINEF selection. This annual distinction comes with an endowment of 20,000 euros and mentoring from L’Oréal Paris, all of which are intended to highlight the talent of these remarkable women. After Kate Winslet and Elle Fanning, it was left to Viola Davis to choose the overall winner as juror for this 5th edition. On May 23rd, South Korean director Heo Gayoung received the award for her movie “First Summer”, which also won the 2025 Cinef Award. During the ceremony, we met the brand’s ambassadors Jane Fonda, Elle Fanning, Gillian Anderson, Alia Bhatt, Simone Ashley and many others.
