Ukrainian Artist Zhanna Kadyrova Wins the First Edition of the Her Art Prize

Grand Palais, Paris

In partnership with Maison Boucheron, Marie Claire magazine and Art Paris are presenting the very first edition of the Her Art Prize, an accolade aimed at supporting female artists in their careers. This engagement is echoed by the fair’s curatorial pledge to almost total parity, with 40% of the artists represented being female. Among them is Ukrainian artist Zhanna Kadyrova, whose work is currently being presented in the nave of the Grand Palais by Galleria Continua.

Kadyrova was just awarded the 2025 Her Art prize for her striking photo series “Refugees“. Thanks to her volunteer work on the Ukrainian frontline, she was able to take pictures of public buildings devastated by the bombing. A native of Kyiv, which she strongly refuses to leave, Zhanna Kadyrova has radically transformed her art into an act of activism since the start of the war currently raging in her country. She regards this award as an acknowledgement of the Ukrainian resistance, to whom she donates all the profits from the sale of her works.

In addition to a provision of 30,000 euros and a large-scale publicity campaign, Zhanna Kadyrova was presented with the Her Art award during an exclusive event at the Grand Palais on Saturday, April 5th, where we met the jury members: Elodie Bouchez, President of the jury, Cécile Debray, President of the Musée National Picasso Paris, fashion designer Rabih Kayrouz, author Lola Lafon, Valentine Lecêtre, Managing Director of Art Paris, Galia Loupan, Editorial Director Marie Claire International, Camille Morineau, curator and founder of the AWARE association, Katell Pouliquen, Editorial Director of Marie Claire France, Hélène Poulit-Duquesne, Managing Director of Boucheron and art historian and entrepreneur Marie-Cécile Zinsou.
