Maria Luisa: her name remains the unmistakable signature of an eye as cultivated as it is demanding. Disappeared in April 2015, the legendary Spring Fashion Editor had become as much a reference for an entire generation of Parisian and international fashion as a friend, an unfailing support for creation in the broadest sense. The first to discover talent, she also knew how to identify changes in the environment: by joining Spring in 2009, she set up a space where her vision of creation meets a clientele she feels ready to take stylistic risks, eager for discoveries.
At the end of the 80’s, when it opened its first multibrand on rue Cambon, fashion was still a territory to conquer where the borders between creation and marketing were porous. The first one, she takes the risk of young talents, contributing to the emergence of designers such as Rick Owens or Haider Ackermann, finding the young talents of Martin Margiela or Alexander McQueen, offers her cosmopolitan clientele Manish Arora fashion or Manolo Blahnik shoes. Its high profile becomes a seal of approval at the forefront of the parades.
On October 6, the closing day of this Parisian Fashion Week, of which she was one of the most respected referees, an exhibition was opened to pay tribute to this visionary who published as much as she bought. On the occasion of the opening cocktail, guests were able to discover at the Maria Luisa shop in Printemps Haussmann the staging of Christopher Kane’s creations, Elvis Pompilio, Haider Ackermann, Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano (for Maison Margiela), Junya Watanabe, Manish Arora, Manolo Blahnik, Martin Margiela (private collection Maria Luisa), Martine Sitbon (for Rue du Mail), Nicolas Ghesquière, Pierre Hardy, Rick Owens and the Alexander McQueen and Clothes Houses. The fifteen invited designers therefore presented an exclusive silhouette or accessory that the buyer wore, could have worn or would have liked to wear. A way of perpetuating dialogue through this singular and always present figure.
