Shio Kusaka’s Exhibition Marks the Reopening of the David Zwirner Gallery

The David Zwirner Gallery highlights once again the work of Shio Kusaka, this time in its Parisian exhibition space. Best known for her instinctive and playful approach to ceramics, the Japanese artist employs recurrent techniques and patterns to create unique vessels that embrace organic imperfections, all while alluding to traditional, contemporary, and futuristic forms. Through their complex designs, which highlight the poetry of irregularities and optical effects, Kusaka’s pieces blend multiple references, ranging from architecture, fantastic literature or the cosmos, all infused with her personal observations that reflect the artist’s attention to texture and motifs.

At the exhibition opening, held beneath the newly renovated Eiffel-style glass roof, we had the pleasure of meeting Michelle Lamy, Babeth Djian, Elise Younes-Chagoury, Clémence and Didier Krzentowski, Marc Donnadieu and Joseph Allen.
