SEAN SUEN’s Time Travelers Retrace the Ancient Tea Horse Road

Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine

By now we are well familiar with the approach. At SEAN SUEN, every season means a new journey into the heritage of the fashion designer’s homeland. With the Fall-Winter 25/26 collection, Sean Suen invites us to delve into the rich history behind the mountains of the Qinghai-Tibet plateau and the Yunnan-Guizhou plateau. Stretching for over 3,000 km, this millennia-old path, known as the Tea and Horse Road, was once a central highway connecting China, Tibet and neighbouring Asian countries, used for trading tea, silks, cordyceps and safflower. Embodying the intercultural exchanges that took place there, the garments of the collection are layered and play with superimpositions, blending codes and references from the many communities that met along the way. The result is a timeless traveller with a cowboy flair, who conjures up the horse bells of the caravans of yesteryear as he rides by.

On the front row, we caught a glimpse of Ty Dolla $ign, Aime Simone, Itzan Escamilla, Alonzo, Jonathan Hayden, and many more.
