Rolex introduces latest creations at Palais Garnier
Last March, Rolex presented their latest creations at the prestigious Baselworld fair. A few weeks after the major Swiss event, the watchmaker offered journalists and friends the opportunity to “catch up” with the timepieces of 2018 – and to try them out. For the occasion, Rolex chose the Opéra Garnier’s magical setting for all guests to experience the collection to its fullest. To pay tribute to the iconic GMT-Master II, which is designed to display two time zones, Rolex had designed a poetic scenography with, as a common thread, the journey. After being welcomed by elegant flight attendants in the Palais Garnier’s spectacular staircase, all guests went upstairs to be surrounded by clouds of flowers. They extended their journey into the Rotonde de la Lune, where a three-dimensional image of a globe rotated in a dark setting. A dazzling sphere of yellow flowers echoed the globe under the Grand Foyer’s gilded vaults. This scenography showcased the brilliance of the Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II and its two-tone ceramic bezel, while all eyes were on the Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona’s rainbow-colored sapphires. There, Emmanuel Perrotin’s wife Lorena Vergani took particular interest in the collection’s new features, while ballet dancer Juliette Gernez felt right at home. And so did DJ Bob Sinclar and former footballer Christophe Dugarry. The event also brought together a younger generation of creative people, including Zoia Mossour and the daughters of designer Olivier Lapidus.
