‘Flooded’: Roger Vivier invites Paris into a fantasy land
Gherardo Felloni is a film buff. Since he became creative director of Roger Vivier, the Italian designer has managed to create a unique universe to tell the story of the legendary French House. One remembers in particular his staging of ‘Duo des Chats’ with Catherine Deneuve and Nadia Tereszkiewicz, or ‘DOWESHOW’, a short film bringing together the characters of Marlene Dietrich, Marilyn Monroe, Edith Piaf and Josephine Baker to the stage. For hie Spring/Summer 2022 collection, Felloni just presented “Flooded”, a musical film inspired by his own teenage years directed by Andrea Danese and Danilo Bubani. Vassili Schneider plays Theo, a young boy who finds himself immersed in a dream world after finding a Roger Vivier shoebox filled with memories of his mother, played by Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi. The film is accompanied by ‘Floodland’, a song written and performed by Felloni himself in a duet with Isabella Rosselini, a longtime friend of the brand. The protagonist, like the viewer, is transported into a magical world populated by creatures played by Sveva Alviti, Anna Cleveland or Annabelle Belmondo, with a credo: never be afraid to dream. To celebrate the launch of the collection, the house invited friends, including Catherine Deneuve and Amanda Lear, to a private dinner in the spirit of the film. Here’s a look back at an evening where reality and dream merged as one.
