Richard Linklater Revives the Nouvelle Vague
American filmmaker Richard Linklater makes his comeback with “Nouvelle Vague”, a tribute to the cinematic movement of the 50s and its greatest figures. In a recreational atmosphere, the film depicts Jean-Luc Godard, François Truffaut, Claude Chabrol, Jean Seberg and Jean-Paul Belmondo’s adventures during the genesis of “Breathless” (1960), at a time when cinema was still establishing its codes. Linklater joyfully reappropriates these codes to create a film that bears witness to the effervescence of the time, without forgetting the moments of doubt. Thanks to outstanding performances, “Nouvelle Vague” is bursting with ideas, charm, cheerfulness and nostalgia. On the red carpet, we met Guillaume Marbeck, Zoey Deutch, Aubry Dullin, Richard Linklater, Quentin Tarantino and many others.
