2020 Révélations : Chanel and the Académie des César celebrate the future of French cinema

Rising stars illuminated the City of Lights as France’s Academy of Film Arts & Sciences and Chanel honored this year’s Révélations. The annual evening shines a spotlight on the top up-and-coming talents vying for the prestigious César awards in the Most Promising Actress and Actor categories. Each young talent is paired with a mentor who this year included Marion Cotillard, Laetitia Casta, Léa Seydoux, Guillaume Canet, Gilles Lellouche, Louis Garrel and more famous faces from the French big screen. Both generations of talents came together for a cocktail, dinner at le Petit Palais and screening of this year’s short film featuring all of the young actors and actresses. The Academy’s President Alain Terzian and French Cultural Minister Franck Riester welcomed the 36 fresh faces who include Alexis Manenti and Djebril Zonga, stars of Ladj Ly’s “Les Misérables” who will represent France at the 2020 Academy Awards announced the same day. This year’s crop of talent span all ages and backgrounds from the 12 year old Lise Lepart Prudhomme to the 35 year old Nora Hamzawi who already has an impressive career under her belt. On Jan. 29th, the Academy will announce which talents have been officially nominated for a César award and take home the coveted prize at the ceremony on February 28th, 2020.
