It’s a collab as we like them, and that will not fail to attract the attention of fashion enthusiasts eager to give meaning to their consumption habits. When we think of Zalando, we immediately think of the online fashion giant (first platform in Europe with over two thousand international brands) and its dazzling breakthrough as a fashion prescriber in recent years. A priori few links with the duo Viktor&Rolf whose avant-garde and inspired haute couture collections have managed to crack conventions over the years. However, the two entities agree on one point – and not the least: the desire to democratize an eco-responsible fashion that remains both high-end and accessible. Thus was born RE:CYCLE, a limited edition collection for spring-summer 2018 whose vocation is to “prolong the fashion cycle”. Incarnated by the top Hanne Gaby Odiele, the collection is inspired by the experimental approach of the Viktor&Rolf haute couture collections (we remember their “red carpet” collection literally built with red carpets, or more recently their dresses reviving evening wear gleaned here and there). For RE:CYCLE, the duo reworked Zalando’s unsold parts and reinvents them using recycled materials. The result: a collection of 17 pieces reworked into four flagship shapes (circles, knots, diamonds and straps). The day before the official launch of the collection, the house invited its Parisian followers to the Joyce Gallery to discover the collection in preview. An opportunity to jump into the future of fashion.
