The 2021 Prix Liliane Bettencourt unveils its winners
After celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Prize in 2019, the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation unveiled this week the winners of the 21st edition of the Liliane Bettencourt Prize ‘pour l’Intelligence de la main’®. Chaired by Françoise Bettencourt Meyers, this new edition saw its international jury reward a new group of exceptional talent. The jury was again presided over by Jean de Loisy, director of the Beaux-Arts de Paris, and included Pierre Hermé, Didier Krzentowski, Didier Mutel, Patricia Ribault, Hala Wardé and Lisa White. During a grand ceremony held at the Salle Wagram, the jury rewarded artisan jeweler Karl Mazlo, named Exceptional Talent 2021 for his work ‘Black Garden’, the result of a creative process combining craft and artistic performance. In the ‘Dialogues’ category, the jury chose to reward the collaboration between porcelain and ceramic artist Grégory Rosenblat and the design duo Nicolas Lelièvre & Florian Brillet. Their collaboration gave birth to ‘Aotsugi’, a work inspired by the Japanese kintsugi technique. Finally, the ‘Parcours 2021’ rewarded the European Technological Institute of Music Professions (ITEMM), a training center for violin making, repair and instrument making located in Le Mans. With this new edition, the Liliane Bettencourt Prize, created in 1999, adds new faces to its community of more than 100 exceptional talents – representing more than 50 skills alone.
