ELLE Magazine and LVMH present the very first Prix des Artisanes

The Prix des Artisanes, which was created earlier this year to highlight the skills of craftswomen in various fields, just rewarded its first winners at the Fondation Louis Vuitton. The Prize is an initiative of ELLE, ELLE à Table and ELLE Décoration magazines with the support of the LVMH group, the Institut National des Métiers d’Art and the Chambre des Métiers de l’Artisanat. Four categories make up this new award: fashion, design, wine & spirits and the preservation of French patrimony. The ceremony, which took place in the building designed by Frank Gehry (which currently houses “The Morozov Collection, icons of modern art”) was an opportunity to recall the importance of craftsmanship today and particularly the place of women in this profession. Host Camille de Foresta opened the ceremony by reminding the importance of the transmission of knowledge and craft. Out of nearly 200 candidates, the Prix des Artisanes was finally handed to feather artist Janaïna Milheiro (fashion), to the Champagne-maker Elise Bougy (wine & spirits), to marquetry artist Manon Bouvier (design), as well as to Isabelle Roché, founder of La Maison du Pastel, in the category dedicated to the preservation of French patrimony. The jury, which included Antoine Arnault, Erin Doherty (ELLE), Victoire de Castellane and Constance Guisset, was chaired by French artist Morgane Tschiember.
