The Poetic K三 (K-3) Collection Founded by Kenzo Takada
To inaugurate Paris Design Week, K三 (K-3), the luxury home and lifestyle brand co-founded by Kenzo Takada and Jonathan Bouchet Manheim, presents its new “Capsule” collection: a vibrant, intense and colourful interlude. The collection’s masterpieces are 2 hand-crafted surfboards made from precious woods such as sugi and hinoki from the majestic forests of Yoshino, Japan. These boards are a formidable work of craftsmanship, combining traditional skills and innovation in a delicate, typically Japanese blend. Decorated with golden lines, or lacquered with deep reds and blacks, they are reminiscent of the art of Kintsugi, another Japanese skill that restores damaged objects by reassembling broken pieces with gold powder.
Season 2, the textile collection, is staged in harmonious, vibrant and colourful palettes named Shogun Blue, Hana Pop and Tora. Each collection is inspired by a different theme and includes fabrics, prints, ceramics, furniture and even bath linens. Shogun Blue is made of bluish tones while the colours are vibrant for Hana Pop, and there is a wilder, more vegetal ambience for Tora. Finally, the collection comes with home fragrances, presented as a preview: three new scents, with floral, fresh and woody notes.
At this world preview, we met Fabrice Bourg, founder of the 3Bis Architectures agency, Xavier Cartron, President of the eponymous agency, Laurent Haond, as well as many of the designer’s friends, who came to pay tribute to the legacy of this great genius of colourful, graphic design.
