Petit Bateau and Deyrolle make l’École Buissonnière
It is not often that one can boast of having met, in one evening, a polar bear, a rhinoceros, a giraffe, and a multitude of species of all kinds coming from the depths of the seas to the borders of the Parisian scene. This was the experience Petit Bateau offered last night at the launch of its capsule collection with the Maison Deyrolle, an institution founded in 1831 by Jean-Baptiste Deyrolle, passionate about entomology, presented to the press and the brand’s guests.
Nestled in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, this cabinet of curiosities (the last survivor of the species) is also famous for its picture plates which, as early as 1860, offered schoolchildren throughout the world a veritable “education through the eyes”. The institution now lends its paw to clothing with a Petit Bateau capsule on which the educational boards become motifs of these “knitted knitwear”. For the older ones, two sailors make the nest of a flock of macaws for her and a school of swordfish for him. Protected or threatened species, such as the gibbon and the Asian elephant on the bodies, or the chimpanzee and the rhinoceros on shorts and tank tops intended for the smallest will make the biggest regret the time of childhood. Playful and inspired, the collection nevertheless remains the witness of a commitment to nature and its inhabitants with fur, feathers and scales shared by Deyrolle and Petit Bateau.
