Perrotin Matignon and Perrotin Turenne Unfold New Horizons for Art in Paris

Galerie Perrotin, Paris

To celebrate Paris Art Week with grace and artistry, Perrotin Paris is presenting three ambitious solo exhibitions by Cristina BanBan, Bharti Kher and Jean-Michel Othoniel, alongside the group show Panorama, which spans both its Le Marais and Matignon spaces.

Early in his childhood in Saint-Etienne, Jean-Michel Othoniel was introduced to the work of American minimalist Robert Morris during a visit to the Musée d’art moderne et contemporain de Saint-Étienne, an experience that left a lasting impression on him. He now sees art as a parallel universe and embraces a playful side he deems important, a philosophy that later defined his artistic practice. In this new exhibition entitled ‘New Works’, the pieces are in line with those shown at the Collection Lambert in Avignon as part of his exhibition Othoniel Cosmos ou Les Fantômes de L’Amour (Othoniel Cosmos or The Ghosts of Love), which is on display throughout the city. They highlight the artist’s genuine interest in minimalism and abstraction and reinforce the idea that beauty and sensuality are in no way lacking in radicalism.

At the same time, the gallery is presenting ‘Lorquianas’, a solo exhibition by Cristina BanBan, a Spanish artist based in New York. It features large, previously unseen canvases and works on paper inspired by the life and legacy of Federico Garcia Lorca. First presented in May 2025 at the Alhambra Museum of Fine Arts in Granada, Spain, this exhibition now arrives in Paris with new additions created especially for the occasion.

Further on, don’t miss ‘The Sun Splitting Stones’, Bharti Kher’s seventh solo exhibition at the gallery. For more than twenty years, the artist has been developing a unique practice that combines sculpture, installation, and painting, inspired by reflections on the body, memory, and myths. After a long period devoted mainly to sculpture, she has now turned her attention back to painting, rediscovering a medium that is both intimate and powerful, whose symbolic and spiritual dimensions she fully explores.

Finally, Perrotin presents ‘Panorama’, an ambitious collective exhibition on display at both the Salle de Bal on Rue de Turenne, exceptionally opened for the occasion, and at Perrotin Matignon. This group show includes special presentations by Johan Creten, Monira Al Qadiri, Josh Sperling, Gregor Hildebrandt, Hans Hartung, Lee Bae, and Ali Banisadr, among others!

Organized with the support of Perrier Jouët, Marie Brizard, the Club du Souper, and chef Pascal Barbot, this double inauguration brought together artists Jean-Michel Othoniel, Cristina BanBan, and Bharti Kher, alongside Emmanuel Perrotin, Iván Argote, Johan Creten, Julian Charrière, Laurent Grasso, Claire Tabouret, Lionel Estève, Christiane Pooley, Jean-Philippe Delhomme, Florian Reither, Miles Greenberg, Olivia Anani, Marie Maertens, Vittoria Matarrese, Josephine Reither, and many others.
