Perrotin Inaugurates New Exhibitions by Bernard Frize and Josh Sperling
Last night, Galerie Perrotin presented its two new exhibitions: Les choses que j’ai vues (Things I’ve Seen) by Bernard Frize at the impasse Saint-Claude, and Head over Heels by Josh Sperling deployed over the two exhibition floors of the rue de Turenne space. For his ninth exhibition at the Parisian gallery, artist Bernard Frize presents works that he describes as “huge paintings on my scale, pieces that I can paint just by stretching my arm. The result of these paintings in which I spread the colour with a very wide brush, is an image of disorder, where paint seems independent of the brushstrokes that fixated it.” Josh Sperling presents a series of new works that, standing at the crossroads between design, architecture, painting and sculpture, involve both manual and digital techniques. Yesterday evening, the art world gathered around a private cocktail party, signed Italicus and Perrier-Jouët, for the inauguration of these two shows. The event was attended by Emmanuel Perrotin, Bernard Frize and Josh Sperling, as well as Sophie Calle, Laurent Grasso, Izumi Kato, Mathilde Denize, and Leanne Sacramone.
