Pauline Mari presents “Hartung nouvelle vague” at the Hus Gallery

On December 5th, the Hus Gallery celebrated “Hartung nouvelle vague”, an essay by Pauline Mari published by Les Presses du réel. In this second book, the art historian reveals the hidden links between the painter (in the spotlight at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la ville de Paris until March 1st 2020) and the world of cinema, notably through the film Alain Resnais dedicated to him in 1947. In its 18th arrondissement space, the gallery invited its guests to discover lithographs by the artist from the 1970s, a photograph by Harry Shunk showing Hartung working, as well as two works by Alizée Gazeau created as part of a stay in Antibes at the Hartung-Bergman Foundation. After the presentation of Pauline Mari’s book, supported by excerpts from Alain Resnais’ short film “Visit to Hans Hartung”, the evening ended with a concert blending song and piano by Sarah Aguilar and Carole Stephanopoli.
