Ozone and Mobilier National Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Brasilia Chandelier

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Brasilia collection, Mobilier national and Ozone invite us to rediscover Michel Boyer’s famous ceiling lamps. Back in 1974, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs commissioned the designer to arrange the residence of the French ambassador to Brazil. Drawing his inspiration from the monumental structures of the National Congress Palace in Brasilia, Boyer designed this renowned collection of ceiling lights. These four emblematic monumental chandeliers were reissued in 2006 by Ozone, Etienne Gounot and Eric Jähnke’s design duo, as part of the renovation of the ambassador’s residence in Brasilia.

While Michel Boyer passed away in 2011, this remarkable collection hasn’t fallen into oblivion. In 2013, Ozone re-issued the chandeliers for Monsieur Bleu, a new restaurant designed by French architect Joseph Dirand, and in 2014, the Brasilia collection was added to the Ozone catalogue with the agreement of Michel Boyer’s heirs.

The evening also marked the entry of two pieces into the permanent collections of the Mobilier national: the table lamp and the Brasilia chandelier. At the opening, we met Joseph Dirand, Dominique Perrault, Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost, Charles Zana, Isabelle Stanislas and Glenn Sestig.
