ORISHA Award ceremony and preview of the “African Stories” sale

Last Thursday evening, African art was in the spotlight at PIASA during a double event with sub-Saharan colours: the presentation of the ORISHA Prize and the preview of the African Stories sale.

Created by Nathalie Miltat and Timothée Chaillou, the ORISHA Prize highlights the most emblematic approaches of the African scene, striving to cover all modes of expression in the visual and plastic arts. A strong signal of support for artistic development, supported by PIASA and this year sponsored by the Lilian Thuram Foundation. The Zinsou Foundation will host the personal exhibition of the 2014 winner: Beninese sculptor Kifouli Dossou, who will also receive an endowment of 10,000 euros.

In parallel, the guests were able to discover the works composing the sale “African Stories” which will be held on October 07 in the auction house. Advised by curator André Magnin, PIASA will auction a hundred contemporary works by some of the continent’s greatest artists, from Chéri Samba to Frédéric Bruly Bouabré, including Romuald Hazoume and Ester Mahlangu.
