The Volkswagen inRocKs festival kicked off a week+ of breathtaking music under the roofs of La Cigale and La Boule Noire, as well as in a quintet of sound antennas relocated to Nantes, Marseille, Lille, Toulouse and Caen. On the menu of this 2012 edition: some very much awaited live shows – Benjamin Biolay, Pulp and Hot Chip, cleverly potassed line-ups with Savages, The Vaccines, Willy Moon, Alt-J, Citizens among others! and No Ceremony///, a Kitsune evening set in sound by Theme Park, Saint Lou Lou, Coastal Cities, and an ultra engaging opening party – with cocktail please – in the Casino de Paris main hall.
Last night indeed, the magazine showed us what an inRocKs line-up version meant, inducted by the lives of Juveniles and the hypnotic Kindness. First start, crowd gathering: the two compositions are playful, with evil synthpop, guitars and flow.
The third to come on stage will be Lescop, the most compared singer of his generation, the one who is not afraid of Joy Division or Etienne Daho. Not surprisingly, we enjoy his ethereal, almost seraphic melodies, from the hit’La Forêt’ to’Hypnose’, via’La Nuit Américaine’ or’Paris s’endort’. Cerebral.
10:00, end of shoot, break, cocktails on the heights. And then Hot Chip comes: ecstasy and communion on the electronic-futurist bombs “”Flutes”, “”Over And Over”, “”How Do You Do”, and the others. We’re gloating. The tone is set.
