Celebrating Haute Couture with Olivia Palermo and Anna Cleveland
For the first time, Beaubourg hosted the Haute Couture collections soirée—which traditionally has been held at the Petit Palais. The event opened Haute Couture Week in Paris with a big announcement: pieces by fashion designers would be collected by the Musée national d’art moderne in Paris. After Pascal Morand (Executive President of the Federation) announced the news, Bernard Blistène (the Director of the Musée national d’art moderne) spoke: “Are Haute Couture creations art objects?” The answer is yes, and museum’s collections will be completed with fashion objects, because this art form deserves a place alongside other masterpieces. After the speeches, it was party time, with a DJ set from the duo “Get a Room!” (a.k.a. Jeff Lasson and Aurélien Haas). On the dance floor and on the terrace, we spotted Michèle Lamy, Olivia Palermo, Anna Cleveland, Noémie Lenoir, and the journalists Suzy Menkes and Hamish Bowles. Naturally, plenty of designers, many presenting their collections in the coming days, were in attendance: Ronald van der Kemp, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Joseph Altuzarra, Guo Pei, Guillaume Henry (of Patou), Glenn Martens (of Y/Project) and Stéphane Ashpool (of Pigalle). A perfect start to the haute couture shows.
