OFFSCREEN Takes Over a Monumental Brutalist Space in Paris
OFFSCREEN makes its second appearance on the official Art Week calendar. This time standing as a firmly established new player, the fair will take place in a monumental new space in the heart of the 8th arrondissement of Paris, a former parking garage with an iconic Art Deco facade, from October 18th to 20th. By presenting a selection of works ranging from avant-garde, historical, and contemporary, OFFSCREEN perpetuates its unique model, halfway between artistic curation and selling platform. The fair brings together artists who work with images from installations to still images or time-based. By blending a wide range of media, including video, film, photography, sculpture, mixed-media installations and digital works, OFFSCREEN invites visitors to discover the diversity, cross-disciplinarity and richness of the international contemporary art scene. As part of the Paris Art Week programme, a selection of French and international galleries will be presenting their solo exhibitions thanks to an immersive tour spread over the eight floors of the Grand Garage – whose extraordinary Brutalist structure boasts large frosted-glass windows and an innovative scenography designed by architect Léonie Alma Mason. For the second year running, OFFSCREEN is supported by its official partner Lombard Odier, who is joined this year by Dior Parfums. The latter is presenting Word of Mouth, a video work by Jermine Chua, who earned the special mention of the Dior Jeune Talents Prize for Photography and Visual Arts. During the opening, we met Julien Frydman, responsible for the artistic direction of the show, surrounded by Victoria Gandit, Anthony Caims, Anne-Sarah Bénichou, Léonie Alma Mason, Marc Donadieu, and Jean Louis Larivière.
