Oana Ivan Gallery Presents Aline Coquelle’s First Solo Exhibition

Oana Ivan Gallery, Paris

French photographer Aline Coquelle embraces the medium as a means to illustrate her nomadic lifestyle and a global perspective. Having lived and worked in Central and South America, India, Europe and Africa, she established her nomadic base camps in Paris and Zanzibar, Tanzania, in 2007. No matter the country she’s exploring, the photographer ventures into the most remote territories to capture the essence of human and animal communities.

This month, Oana Ivan Gallery is presenting the photographer’s first solo exhibition, introducing us to a visual work nourished by fieldwork, exchange and intuition. Renowned for her many books published in France and abroad – from Palm Springs to Zanzibar, via the world’s horsemen and polo players, of whom she is a privileged observer – Aline Coquelle has returned to France after more than ten years in East Africa. ‘Beyond Borders’ features a series of photographs conceived as a narrative of fragments, where territories and people meet and respond to each other.

At the exhibition opening, we met Anthony Delon, Pablo Saavedra de Decker, Tim Newman, the Giercke family and Hamid Sardar.
