Oana Ivan Gallery Presents a Retrospective Devoted to Gilles Bensimon
Oana Ivan Gallery presents an exhibition devoted to Gilles Bensimon, an iconic photographer and close friend of the founder of the gallery, whose work has marked the fashion industry and the perception of women for more than forty years. This retrospective brings together fifty works dating from 1986 to 2021, mixing famous photographs and personal prints. Gilles Bensimon redefined female photography by transcending genres, celebrating strong and independent figures, without ever making the female body an object.
For more than fifteen years, his collaboration with Oana Ivan is characterized by a deep professional and artistic complicity, as they are united by a common commitment and sensitivity. He especially contributed to defining the visual identity of Frame/Book/Magazine, founded by Oana Ivan. Their numerous shootings, from Cuba to Mexico, have always been guided by a quest for light and authenticity, leading them to collaborate with personalities like Yvon Lambert and Roberto Fabelo.
