For its Grand Opening, Oana Ivan Gallery Celebrates Peter Knapp’s Audacity

Oana Ivan Gallery, Paris

Oana Ivan Gallery was born of Oana Ivan’s dream of opening a space for art and art lovers in the heart of Paris. Based between New York and Los Angeles for many years, she founded Frame/Book/Magazine, a unique publication in terms of both editorial content and design.

For the inaugural exhibition of her eponymous gallery, located at 93 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, in the Parisian ‘triangle d’Or’, Oana Ivan is paying tribute to Peter Knapp with the exhibition ‘Countdown, 2024-1960’ – a retrospective that celebrates 6 decades of audacity and creativity through a curated selection of pieces, including some of his latest creations, displayed for the first time now.

A visionary artist, former artistic director of Elle, fashion photographer and friend of the greatest couturiers, Knapp moves away from the traditional static image to explore movement and the unexpected, blurring the boundaries between art and fashion. Portraying women as symbols of modernity, he plunges us into his singular imagery, which tackles the emancipation of women and the relationship with the body. Through this exceptional selection of around thirty works, some exhibited for the first time, Oana Ivan Gallery is inaugurating a space devoted to artists, connoisseurs and enthusiasts, at the crossroads of art, refinement and fashion. At the inauguration of this new space, we met Oana Ivan, alongside Peter Knapp, Macha Méril, Sarah Moon, and Marie Beltrami, to name but a few.
