Neil Barrett Reiterates His Aesthetic Codes

If we had to pick up a title for Neil Barrett’s autumn-winter 2024 runway it would be “Back to Origins”, more precisely a return to the codes that made the English designer one of the main exponents of minimalism in the early 2000s. The eternal conflict between tradition and contemporaneity is at the heart of the collection, which reflects the essence of his vision. The cornerstones of the men’s wardrobe thus undergo a metamorphosis, thanks to discreet cuts and edits. The chosen fabrics are borrowed from hunting and work clothing. The classic British Harris tweed for example is transformed into a Techno-tweed. Originally functional elements become contemporary decorations, thus the patches on the elbows migrate to the cuffs, the folds of the shirts become channels of fabric and the pockets are layered. The colour palette evokes as well the brand’s heritage, from camel to olive green, passing through the typical grey, navy blue and burgundy, up to the classic black and white. Present to applaud the show from the front row are among others Pelayo Diaz Zapico, Rahi, Ivano Marino, Demi Oyenekan.
