N°21 Makes Bows the Symbol of Contemporary Femininity

Garage 21, Milan

Clear and coherent, this is what makes Alessandro Dell’Acqua’s strength. Every fashion show by the Italian designer reads like a manifesto, embodying his exact vision through collections that are the result of a balanced combination of narratives. For the Fall-Winter 25/26 season, the creative director of N°21 has reinterpreted three films by Sophia Coppola: Lost in Translation, The Virgin Suicides and Marie Antoinette. “From the first, I took the minimalism of the constructed cuts and the immutable attraction for the petite robe noire; from the second, the sensuality of the transparencies and the overlapping of the feminine masculine and the light heavy; and from the third, the fun expressed through the evident but pastel colours”, explained Dell’Acqua himself. He chose the bow, the most feminine existing decor, as the common thread. Carried out in every possible shape and size, it creates different yet coherent aesthetic hints. Different versions of Radiohead’s Creep provided the soundtrack for the parade of many different stylistic nuances, from the minimalist cleanliness of wool coats and mini dresses to the game of volumes and weights of puffy cabans with organza skirts, to animal prints. The crowded parterre included the likes of Anna Dello Russo, Giulia Salemi, Sarah Toscano, Paolo Stella and Ludovica Sauer.
