MycoWorks Unveils a Collaboration with CARCY Magazine at the Galerie du Roi

Founded in 2017 by Parisian artistic director Stéphane Carcy, CARCY magazine is about representation and identity. It engages with the world through eroticism, fashion, photography, illustration and performance. The latest issue of this biannual magazine is dedicated to chimaeras, these mythological half-human half-animal creatures. The idea was as follows: nowadays, chimaeras feel very real, and they are reshaping life on earth and in the industry. For this 12th issue, the magazine has partnered with MycoWorks, a biotechnology company crafting biomaterials of unparalleled beauty, strength and hand feel. The result of this collaboration is a limited edition of Carcy x Reishi™️ cover to investigate chimaeras, shedding light on new noble and natural materials.

Created by two artists in a San Francisco basement, Reishi™️ by MycoWorks was also a sort of mythological concept: they started to cultivate mycelium and obtained Reishi™️, a high-quality new material fully woven from mycelium, which is the root structure of the fungus. Here, it is enhanced by the contributions of numerous artists, scientists and craftsmen.

Among the guests, we met Bonnie Banane, Jenna Marvin and Tata, Julie Demont, Flavio Juan Nunez, and Rivoli, who were delighted by Jeune Pouce and Dustin’s DJ set.
