MSGM’s Provocative Wedding

Forever. Always. Per Sempre. At MSGM, Massimo Giogetti revisited the concept of wedding and its iconographic elements. By analyzing, dismantling and reassembling it, he tells the story of an imagined marriage inspired both by Milla Jovovich’s veil and flower crown and by Uma Thurman as the Kill Bill bride. This rather strange mix turns out as a romantic collection that closes as an action movie.. A new romanticism, both sweet and scratchy. But a romanticism that might also have to be re-read as follows : after the tragic victory of the far right at the recent Italian elections, one can only wonder whether this dreamed wedding, one that Massimo experienced 3 years ago with his fiancé, could still happen today…

Sheer tulle skirts are worn over black culottes. Embroideries, bows, laces and sewn wedding rings appear on suits and crop tops. Some colors, very dear to MSGM also appear in the collection: the electric green is for instance dyed on a lace jumpsuit then covers a transparent bubblegum pink tulle skirt.  Sensuality, lightness, transparency and naked skins, all key ingredients were reunited to construct this strong collection. Massimo even manages to pay a tribute to Truffault by making the bride wear black. The designer perhaps wishes to remind us of the possibilities of love – even the ones that seem so terribly frightening…
