With his MSGM Fall/Winter 2019 collection, Massimo Giorgetti is Milan’s heartbreaker
Massimo Giorgetti is always trying to innovate. His Fall/Winter 2019 collection, presented this week in Milan, is conceived as an imaginary film from the 80s. Named “Spezzacuori”—translation: “the heartbreaker”—it’s a modern fable through the streets of Milan, embodied by a new monogram featuring the letter M intertwined with a red rose. Everything in this collection is true to the MGSM DNA: graphic prints, knots, optical illusions… This season, however, logos and streetwear gave way to a more refined femininity, and an “evening attitude to adopt even during the day,” as Giorgetti said backstage, a few minutes before the show started. There was something to please both Parisian women (like Gabrielle Caunesil and Deborah Reyner) as well as trendy Italians (like editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia Emanuele Farneti), sitting front row alongside The Sartorialist’s Scott Schuman.
