Moschino spring-summer 2023 : Jeremy Scott pays tribute to the late fashion illustrator Tony Viramontes
Pop heroism is the main theme of Moschino spring-summer 2023 collection. After four year break, Jeremy Scott is back in Milan with a men’s show (the previous one dates back to January 2018). The collection paid tribute to the late American fashion illustrator and photographer Tony Viramontes, who died at the age of 32 of AIDS-related complications in 1988. Abstract faces and motifs are transferred on tailored suits to echo some of the illustrators’ most prominent works. Blazer jackets are the heroes of the collection in vibrant colors, embellished with doodles, brushstrokes and abstract faces. The collection revisits classical pieces of men’s tailoring items, and also features cropped shirts, hoodies and denim jackets combined with pleated skirts, relaxed Bermuda-shorts and tapered pants tucked in biker or combat boots. While the pop graphics and vivid colors immediately caught guests’ attention, the whole collection also channeled the Buffalo style created by Ray Petry in the 80s. And last but not the least, the location of the show matched perfectly well with the them of the show: Jeremy Scott invited his guests to the industrial space of Fonderia Macchi. Among the happy fashion crowd, enjoying ice cream before the show, we spotted Tom Daley and his husband, Ros Butler, Blake Grey, Hanan Besovic (IDESERVECOUTURE) Meduza duo, Declan Chan, Federico Rossi and Stephanie Glitter, all rooting for Jeremy solo men’s show.
