Mobilier National x Design Miami/ – Carte Blanche to Harry Nuriev
Seven years after designing his first piece of furniture, and backed by an outstanding portfolio including collaborations with Balenciaga, Nike, Rem Koolhaas and the likes, the highly sought-after Harry Nuriev was given carte blanche by the Mobilier National. The work of the Russian designer, which is on display at the Galerie des Gobelins, was unveiled during a prolific art week on Thursday 19 October 2023. Nuriev’s proposal is a reinterpretation of tapestry through artificial intelligence, which he employed to create a vegetal motif for a circular sofa designed by Pierre Frey. At the Chapelle des Gobelins, he contributed to the ‘Les Aliénés’ exhibition with a silver bookcase featuring chairs and discarded sofas. René Jacques Meyer, Pierre Frey, Aurélie Julien, ORLAN, Valérie Lebérichel and Jean Charles de Castelbajac were among the guests attending the opening.
