Mobilier National: Paris Design Week and the Jeune Création Award Ceremony

As a prelude to the Paris Design Week, the Mobilier national – Jeune Création Award has been offering a prime showcase for the new generation of designers every year since 2019. The competition offers a first hands-on experience to students from Campus Mode, Métiers d’Art & Design schools. It gives them the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the practical realities of the job through the development of an original project, thus easing their transition to the professional world. This year’s challenge was to imagine the new identity and interior design of the Grande Matériauthèque, a new space located within the Manufacture des Gobelins. Organized with the support of Hermès International, this 5th edition received 29 project proposals from 176 students, 9 of whom were selected as finalists. Praised by the jury for its contribution to contemporary creativity and expertise, the “Vitrine des matériaux des métiers d’art et du design” project by Gisèle Blanc-Garin, Jalil Ouadah, Julian Turgy, Julie Vandal and Paolo Saillard from École des Arts Décoratifs – PSL, was rewarded by the jury on Wednesday, September 4th.

At the award ceremony, we met Gisèle Blanc-Garin and Julian Turgy, representing the winning group, alongside Hervé Lemoine, President of Mobilier National, and Emmanuel Tibloux, Director of the École des Arts Décoratifs – PSL, as well as jury members Charles-Emmanuel Debar, Marc Bayard, Nounja Jamil, Héloïse Leboucher and Caroline Petitjean.
