mk2 Celebrates Its Six Films in Official Competition with Marie Brizard
For this 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, mk2 is premiering 6 films in the Official Selection 2025. To celebrate this milestone, the French film studio hosted a cocktail reception sponsored by Maie Brizard on the 6th floor of the Grey d’Albion hotel. Founded by Marie Brizard in 1755, the spirits brand is celebrating 270 years of unique expertise this year, and presented a special drink menu full of freshness.
The 6 films presented by mk2 include La petite dernière by Hafsia Herzi, O Agento Secreto by Kleber Mendonça Filho, Sound of Falling by Mascha Schilinski, Un simple accident by Jafar Panahi, and Romería by Carla Simon. Three of these directors are regulars in the official competition: in 2011, Joachim Trier’s film scooped the Best Actress Award, Jafar Panahi won the Screenplay Award in 2018, and Kleber Mendonça Filho won the Jury Prize in 2019. A remarkable prize list that makes us believe the films supported by mk2 will be meeting some success this year too!
With a special tribute to the feature film Sound of Falling, screened earlier in the day, the evening was attended by most of the film’s production team. In her latest production, filmmaker Mascha Schilinski interweaves the stories of four women, all of whom lived on a farm in East Germany at different times. Four lives and four eras, steeped in complex family relationships and linked by mysterious plots. An evocative film that transcends time.
We met Lucas Prisor, Mascha Schilinski, Michael Kimmoun, Luise Heyer, Zoe Baier and Lena Urzendowsky.
