Milan Fashion Week: Brognano and the hyper-feminine surfers

On Day 2 of Milan Fashion Week, Nicola Brognano presented his Spring/Summer 2019 collection in the heart of Navigli. The venue was a light-flooded space, which is typical of this Milanese district once a mecca for commerce. All eyes are on this young brand launched in Milan in 2015 by the Calabrian designer, 2016 winner of the Italian fashion prize “Who is on Next” awarded by Vogue Italia and Alta Roma. The collection was inspired by both exoticism and romanticism and mixed typical surfing attire with hyper-feminine details. The scenario is as follows: a group of young American surfers discover with emotion the beauty of the Southern Italy landscapes. The designer’s own codes and langage are reaffirmed in this collection: a play on contrasts between masculine and hyper-feminine codes. The models wear lingerie covered with ostentatious metallic zippers reminiscent of surf suits. The emotion created by the merging of the two Mediterranean and Pacific influences seized the Italian prescribers who came in numbers to attend the show (where everyone had to stand).
