Nathalie Obadia gallery presents new work by Mickalene Thomas
Mickalene Thomas returns to Paris in September for her third exhibition at the Nathalie Obadia Gallery. The American artist, who will soon be featured in an exhibition at the Contemporary Art Center in New Orleans (“Mickalene Thomas: Black Women” scheduled for late 2019-2020) and at the Bass Museum in Miami in December, presents here “Jet: Beauty of the Month”. With this new set of recent works, the artist explores her favourite mediums, painting on wooden panels and collages on paper, which underpin her study of the body of the black woman, the central subject of her work, at once historical, symbolic and fantasized.
