In Miami, Liu Bolin delivers an exclusive performance for Ruinart

Chinese artist Liu Bolin and French Champagne label Maison Ruinart have more in common than it might seem. The established Champagne maker has long maintained links with contemporary artists, having previously collaborated with Erwin Olaf and Hubert Le Gall. For its latest “Artistic Reinterpretations” carte blanche series, Ruinart invited the artist—a true maestro of camouflage—to complete a ten-day residency in Reims at the beginning of the year, during which he made a series of images highlighting Ruinart’s savoir-faire. Liu Bolin used his camouflage skills to mask the company’s employees amongst the rich history and craftsmanship of its headquarters. Hours before the official launch of Art Basel Miami Beach, Ruinart invited friends and collaborators to a garden party in the Miami Botanical Gardens. To celebrate the project “Reveal the (in)visible,” the artist delivered an exclusive performance, perfectly camouflaging himself in front of a wall of Champagne bottles. Frédéric Dufour, President of Maison Ruinart, sat front row, cementing the House’s links with contemporary creation.
