Mathieu Lehanneur Named Designer of the Year by Maison&Objet
Maison&Objet is awarding Mathieu Lehanneur the title of “Designer of the Year 2024” in recognition of his singular universe and overall creative approach. He is currently presenting his “carte blanche” scenography at Maison&Objet in a dedicated space, “Outonomy”, which provides an overview of his research and career.
Having worked with prestigious brands such as Veuve Cliquot and Cartier, his work has found its home in some of the most prestigious public and private collections in the world, including MoMA in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Throughout his career, his explorations have led him to collaborate with scientists and start-ups, blending design, technology, art and craftsmanship. Inspired by nature and history, he creates hybrid pieces that are part work, part product, like his Andrea air purifier in partnership with Harvard University. His latest projects include the design of the Olympic and Paralympic Torch for the Paris 2024 Games.
The “Designer of the Year” distinction by Maison&Objet crowns a career driven by an innovative approach – blending art, science and craftsmanship – and positions the designer at the very top of the international design scene. At the awards ceremony, we had the opportunity to meet some of the most influential media working in the field, the management team of Maison&Objet and Paris Design Week, as well as the Passage design studio.
