Sitting front row at Marni Fall/Winter 2019

Francesco Risso is a man to watch closely. Since becoming the creative director of Marni in October 2016—following the departure of the label’s founder, Consuelo Castiglioni—the designer has successfully left his mark on one of the most respected Italian houses. This season’s “Neuroerotik” collection, presented during Milan Fashion Week, took Marni to unexplored places with subversive aesthetics. Risso presented silhouettes—on models like Nikolina Nina Granic—in a dual black and red palette, with long leather coats, plus lips and hair in a crow-black shade. While Suzy Menkes and Tim Blanks sat front row, the speakers blasted a mix of the soundtrack from “The Shining” and cat sounds by Kas Product. Here comes the Marni of the future!
