Paris Fashion Week: Sitting front row at Marine Serre with ASAP Rocky and Michèle Lamy
A few days before the presentation of her autumn-winter 2020 collection, Marine Serre unveiled some clues on her InstaStories. The image: a group of people laying oriental carpets on the ground and threading on looms. On February 25th (officially the second day of Paris Fashion Week), the French designer invited Michèle Lamy, ASAP Rocky and Aya Nakamura to sit practically on the floor on the carpets seen in the teaser from the collection. In front of them, on the runway, the designs remained faithful to Marine Serre’s taste for protective clothing (balaclavas and masks are still part of the collection) while assuming a certain romanticism with English embroidery. The houndstooth motif on structured silhouettes and the fuchsia pink worn as a total look can be interpreted as a declaration of a new empowerment, while the motifs of oriental carpets also appear along the way. As the models approached, the designs mixed textures such as denim and carpet fringes. Plus, as a bonus, the gecko motif which stands out as a new iteration of the emblematic half-moon.
