Marian Goodman Gallery x Monnaie de Paris evening

On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of his Parisian gallery, Marian Goodman presents Christian Boltanski’s new works with the exhibition’Faire-part’, varnished during the FIAC and visible until 19 December next. At the same time, the artist took part in the exhibition Take Me (I’m Yours) as associate curator (to Hans Ulrich Obrist and Chiara Parisi) presented at the Monnaie de Paris twenty years after its immense success at the Serpentine Gallery.

Conceived as a work in progress,’Faire-part’ is intended as a mediation on erasure and the passage of time. The artist subtly intertwines different temporalities in relation to his life and work and deploys two large installations:’La traversée de la vie’, a labyrinth of suspended sails and’Animitas’, a contemplative work consisting of a video projection and a flowerbed. Also presented: the diptych called”Departure-Arrival”, composed of red and blue bulbs, is a nod to the gallery’s anniversary, the arrival also symbolizing a new start. Case to follow, therefore…

Take Me (I’m Yours) places the visitor at the heart of the device by inviting him to seize the works and thus contribute to their dissemination. The gifts of artists (Gloria Friedmann, Bertrand Lavier, Fabrice Hyber, Douglas Gordon, Yoko Ono, Philippe Parreno…) allow the public to cross this physical and moral barrier that separates them from works of art by taking them with them and thus giving new life to objects. To see and take, therefore, absolutely, before November 8.

At the end of the indispensable openings and the various worldly obligations of the FIAC, friends and artists from both institutions met at the Jardins du Pont Neuf to continue the celebration. Anniversary magazine.
