Mandarin Oriental Gives a New Lease of Life to the Hôtel Lutetia

Hotel Lutétia, Paris

Last week, the Lutetia celebrated the beginning of a new era as part of the Mandarin Oriental group. First opened in 1910 by the Boucicaut family, the visionary founders and owners of Le Bon Marché department store, located just opposite, the Hôtel Lutetia was originally conceived as a place to welcome customers and suppliers travelling from the provinces. Designed by architects Louis-Charles Boileau and Henri Tauzin, the building boasts a pioneering architectural style, blending Art Nouveau with early hints of Art Deco. At the time, it epitomised luxury and modernity, offering all the comforts emerging at the dawn of the 20th century.

Since its inception, and thanks to its unique location on the Left Bank, the Hôtel Lutetia has been a meeting place for artists, intellectuals and visionaries. For Parisians, the hotel is synonymous with literature, art and sophistication, and remains a cherished symbol of the Left Bank’s spirit.

Under the management of Mandarin Oriental, this rich heritage is now paired with the operational excellence of a renowned international hotel group.

During the celebratory evening, which lit up the Left Bank, guests included Isabelle Huppert, Benjamin Biolay, Hafsia Herzi, George Akirov, Laurent Kleitman and many others.
