Rolling Out the Red Carpet with Catherine Deneuve and Michael Douglas
The first red carpet of the 76th Cannes Film Festival was rolled out on Tuesday 16. This year’s headliner was a photo of Catherine Deneuve in Alain Cavalier’s “La Chamade” shot by Jack Garofalo. An unmistakable icon of French cinema, Catherine Deneuve walked the steps of Cannes alongside Emmanuelle Béart, Laura Smet, Xavier Dolan and Anaïs Demoustier. Michael Douglas, winner of this year’s Palme d’Or, made an acclaimed appearance accompanied by his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and their daughter Carys. Uma Thurman, Elle Fanning, Mads Mikkelsen as well as all members of the official jury were also in attendance.
Featuring Maïwenn’s film Jeanne du Barry as the first screening, Cannes Film Festival welcomed Johnny Depp as one of its leading celebrities alongside Pierre Richard, Benjamin Lavernhe, Melvil Poupaud and many others… An opening that serves as a promising preface for a festival that will deliver masterpieces and bring together all great figures of the film industry from all generations.
