Literature is a treasure island at the Festival Extra!

You will rarely experience literature the way you can at Centre Pompidou this September. For its fourth edition, the Festival Extra! – created by French curator Jean-Max Colard – invites the visitors to experience literature in every way possible : through sound or digital installation, with live performances and so on. Yes, literature is alive and well-kicking ! Extra! was created to show that despite the common opinion that literature is dying, it has in fact never been as diverse. From September 11th to 27th, the festival offers to explore the world of words through 7 themes: a Crash Park Island scenography, an exhibition by Julien Creuzet, a talk with Chloé Delaume, as well as readings and concerts with the ‘Robinsonnades’… Everything’s there! On September 19th, the Bernard-Heidsieck prize, which distinguishes an author for his literary creation outside of a book, awarded Kinga Toth, a Hungarian performer and poet, while the German poet Gerard Rühm won a lifetime achievement prize. Books, but not only: literature must go on!
