The Exhibition at Hangar Y Sheds a New Light on Toys
Third exhibition by Hangar Y and second one brought by the Art Explora Foundation, Rayon Jouets is for all audiences and will be displayed until the 22nd of September. The Rayon Jouets exhibition presents 50 artworks by around 40 contemporary artists, alongside more than 80 vintage toys from four major museums: the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (Paris), the Musée des Civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée – MUCEM (Marseille), the Arab World Institute (Paris) and the Musée du Jouet (Moirans-en-Montagne).
The content of the Rayon Jouets exhibition is jointly conceived thanks to Anne Monier Vanryb’s scientific advice on historical and modern toys, Cédric Fauq’s expertise in contemporary artistic creation, and the artistic direction of the Art Explora Foundation, represented by Blanche de Lestrange.
The Rayon Jouets exhibit gathers around 50 pieces from contemporary artists: paintings, sculptures, installations, videos, video games… The common denominator between these artists is that they all redirect the original meaning of the toy, sometimes turning it against itself, to get us to look at it differently. World-class and emerging artists from all horizons are featured in this exhibition, which brings many different perspectives about toys.
During the inauguration, we met Anne Monier Vanryb, Cédric Fauq, Blanche de Lestrange, Benoît Pierón, David-Hervé Boutin, Bianca Bondi and Aviva Silverman.
